I think we are in agreement that pet battlers will be more interested in rarity, spellbook and level. Whether Blizzard can balance these sufficiently as you suggest remains to WOW Gold be seen, but certainly there is a large element of strategy involved in the battles. And with that comes an added desirability to certain pets which will fit in to cookie-cutter team builds. Those ones will be the ones to benefit from the battle-buyers.
And while I definitely agree with you that collectors will want to get that last pet, the demand (and prices) for such rare pets has already been set well before Mop. And as I stated above, unless Blizz tunes the pet achievement very tightly (unlikely when the TCG and Blizz store pets are taken into account), the probability of needing that one rare drop pet (and therefore potential value) drops significantly. Those pets will only benefit from the across the board inflationary increase, in which case there are certainly more soluble areas to invest.
Just as an example, that spring rabbit's foot was certainly a good investment, and I have quite a few in my GB myself. But will it see an increase in demand/price with the addition of Mop (other than inflationary)? I don't believe it will. Collectors already want it for its achievement value, and that value may go down (collection-wise) if the number of available pets exceeds the top achievement by a number greater than today. Pet battlers also will have little interest in paying a premium for an unleveled one, as a rare brown rabbit, rabbit or snowshoe rabbit all have the exact same spellbook. So sell away imo... this ones going to be a wash. But the same can't be said for every pet, and I am much less optimistic than I was several months ago when i started buying.
