Weather projections are that Issac will gain hurricane status soon, perhaps at Category 2, and the its path includes the Gulf Coast, possibility the Mobile area though recent indications have the storm heading west of Mobile. Weather projections currently have the storm making landfall somewhere along the Gulf Coast sometime Wednesday morning.
Texas-San Antonio's travel plans have the team heading to Mobile on Wednesday for Thursday night's scheduled 6: 30 p. m. game at Ladd-Peebles Stadium. Officials at South Alabama and UTSA have been in contact and will continue to maintain an active dialogue as the storm is tracked in the coming days. Decisions will have to be made concerning UTSA's travel plans, when and if the game might be rescheduled and other factors.
"Those plans and possibilities are being discussed with Texas-San Antonio, '' South Alabama director of athletics Joel Erdmann said Sunday afternoon. "You're talking about transportation and accommodations if a change is made that have to be explored. So there's a lot of logistical things that have to be managed if indeed a change is made. And yes, we are exploring those options. If at all possible, we'd prefer to play the first week as we're scheduled.
